Memorial Day Weekend

I'm slacking I know!  But here's some pictures from Memorial Day Weekend.  It was a quick trip to Omi and Papa's cabin.  We took a quick detour into 'town' for a car show that was happening.
I think the car show was Saturday afternoon.  The kids were being decent and on a whim The Man pulled into a parking spot and took us to see all the pretty cars I know nothing about.  Funny thing...we had a car show in our own town the night before so The Kid was loving the two-fer.  I'm thinking some of these cars are on some kind of route...I could swear I saw the same hot rods in this Frazier Park show that we saw the night before down the street from our house.  Hm...

We pulled up to the cabin and The Kid found Papa working on his tractor.  Need I say more?

I helped Papa clear some tree cuttings after I had made the usual circuit around the grounds.  What started as a meager gesture of 'helping out' turned into a full afternoon of hauling branches.  I was sore for days.  And Papa went on for the rest of the day, long after I finished my job.  How does an old man do that?!

The Little Lady played mostly inside.  And unfortunately her crankiness turned out to be she wasn't feeling well.  So we didn't stay the night at the cabin.  I was secretly kind of happy because Omi needs some major help in the comfortable-mattress department.

But we did stay long enough for a Dutch-oven dinner!  I'm still not sure how I feel about the whole Dutch-oven food thing.  I think the novelty of it makes it more appealing than the actual food.  Ah well, it's still fun to do every once in a while.

So there we have it.  Another Memorial Day spent at the cabin.  We really need to start mixing things up one of these days.

I apologize for the picture quality as well.  (Not that my picture taking is much better on the nice camera).  The iPhone sadly trumps on the side of convenience.

  1. It's tradition! If you "mix it up", you'll be messing with tradition! (See, you can talk yourself into/out of anything). :) Cute pics!
